"We are results driven. We measure success based on outcomes, not inputs. If we don’t move the needle for the client, we haven’t succeeded."

In 2009, a technology leader began to focus on the problem of cybersecurity market failure. With so many misleading—and often false—security claims in the marketplace, even sophisticated consumers (e.g., large corporations) have difficulty in determining how to actually secure themselves. As a result, the nation has become much too accepting of cyber insecurity.

In response they approached BHPI3 looking for a solution—a way to create market forces that favor the best available technologies and drive real cybersecurity.

We conceived of the idea of a hard-hitting analysis and advocacy entity that could cut through the fog of false claims and champion real security.

We created the Cyber Secure Institute.

In less than a year, the Institute was featured in a cover story by SC Magazine, the leading cybersecurity publication. Our insights, analyses and whitepapers have been widely relied on by scores of other media outlets, ranging from MSNBC to CNN to PC World. Our social media network includes senior cybersecurity officials in the government and industry, as well as the leading journalists. In addition, we published whitepapers by nationally recognized leaders, including retired Congressman Tom McMillen and Gen. (USAF ret.) Gene Habiger (who previously served as the Department of Energy's Security Czar and CINC STRATCOM, commanding all our strategic nuclear forces). These white papers are now being taught by the U.S. military's graduate and command schools.

Most importantly, we have made an actual impact. We challenged the cybersecurity claims of two major software providers; they no longer make those claims. We called for changes in Federal Trade Commission rules, and a number of our recommendations are being adopted. We are moving the needle of cybersecurity.
